ABOUT MICHAEL VENTURA

While I live only five miles from my childhood home, in Maryland, that has not kept me from exploring the corners of the Earth. I first picked up a camera in my teens in order to document my friends skateboarding in empty swimming pools and concrete spillways in the mid 1970’s. From that point on, I have never put the camera down.

Since the early 1980’s I have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean, the USA and many other parts of the world, photographing people, cultures and anything that makes a destination unique. From festivals and food to faces and landscapes, whatever images that will tell a story and give you a sense of place.

I know it sounds like a cliché but the world IS my studio. I thoroughly enjoy photographing people on location, wherever that location may be, their work, their home, their life. I love heading to and exploring  new locations – from the Nation’s Capital, the Caribbean, anywhere in between… or beyond.
